EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE AND NLP AS LEADERSHIP TOOLS FOR PDA STUDENTS

ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan

On October 1 and 9, the UNRCCA Preventive Diplomacy Academy held sessions on Emotional Intelligence and Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP). This part of the curriculum for students from Central Asia and Afghanistan focuses on the flexible and practical skills of future leaders.

Invited lecturer, Associate Professor of the South Ukrainian National Pedagogical University named after K.D. Ushinsky (Odesa), certified Master of NLP, Ms Elina Larina, described in detail the role, principles, effective strategies and tools for developing communicative competencies using these psychological technologies. Practical tasks were aimed at recognizing one's and others' emotions, feelings and states, at participants' awareness of various aspects of their personality and the ability to overcome conflicts. Particular attention was paid to technologies for assessing the individual characteristics of people, predicting their behaviour, and finding an approach to a person taking into account his and their own personality. NLP methods are relevant in negotiations, conflict resolution, and planning and are used in various areas of professional life and personal growth. Since they are essential tools for future diplomats, politicians, and business people, these topics are important in the PDA curriculum.
